Joe DiPietro’ s commitment to helping health care organizations and their leaders excel in times of transformation led to his co-founding of Exceptional Leaders International. Based on his passion to drive quality care in a cost effective environment, Joe has been at the forefront of bringing a depth of rigor and performance excellence to each healthcare environment with which he has been associated.
Background
Joe has extensive senior-level executive experience leading operations at the community hospital, academic medical center and health care system levels. While serving as Chief Operating Officer within the Care New England system, he demonstrated achievements in all facets of hospital operations, financial management, performance improvement, corporate compliance and legal affairs. Further, Joe has functioned in a Chief Restructuring Officer role and achieved turnaround results that exceeded organizational expectations. Joe has led the integration of various clinical and non-clinical programs and services at the physician practice, individual hospital and health care system levels. As part of the turnaround and integration efforts and reflective of his excellent project management skills, he developed and executed numerous programs and initiatives to improve and track productivity, quality, patient safety and organizational performance, while reducing costs and effecting significant turnarounds. Joe attributes these sustainable results in large part to his approach to involving and engaging staff at various levels of the affected organizations.
Joe also served as President and CEO of Toll Gate Indemnity, LTD for over ten years having developed this offshore captive insurance company in concert with over 200 physicians across 65 practices. This effort led to substantial cost savings for the physicians and the related health care hospitals and entities with which they were affiliated. Throughout his career, Joe has been recognized as a leader who can successfully achieve consensus among different and, at times, conflicting perspectives.
Joe also has extensive consulting experience as it relates to hospital, practice and system operations, health care legal matters, risk management and insurance, accreditation and regulatory compliance. As a consultant with Joint Commissions International, Joe assisted numerous health care organizations on a global basis improve operations and address critical accreditation issues. He currently serves as a Technical Advisor to a venture funded health care technology company which leverages voice technology with electronic medical records to insure concurrent and effective communication across the health care delivery system.
Joe is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. He was awarded a Juris Doctorate from Suffolk University, holds a Masters in Health Administration from Trinity University and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Boston College.
Outside The Office
Joe treasures his time with his wife Janice and their four children and two grandchildren. Joe is an avid equestrian and enjoys his “barn time” caring for the family’s four horses. Joe also enjoys the challenge of residential real estate renovation and is putting the final touches on the family’s new home situated on the Rhode Island coast.
